My Thoughts

It's no secret. I love Microplane! What isn't to love? Family owned and operated, renowned for quality ranging from home cooks to professional Chefs, their tools make life in the kitchen easier. Microplane is my preferred brand which is why when they asked me to test their latest invention, the all-in-one avocado tool I couldn't wait to hit the test kitchen.

This one tool features a straight edge, pit remover, and scoop. No more knife to cut, knife to remove the pit and a spoon to scoop out the fruit. This tool rocks!

The Coffee Chef Recipe

This is how I do it. As with all recipes, I encourage you to make this guacamole according to your individual taste. Turn loose. Experiment. Have fun! A very big THANK YOU to my wife Amy. 6 - 8 servings

Prep Time: 10 minutes ish


2 large ripe avocados
1 medium tomato, cored & seeded
1/2 small red onion
1/8 cup Mexican lime zest
Juice from 1 to 2 limes
1 JalapeƱo
2 limes
1 tablespoon minced fresh cilantro

*** If you love coffee, feel free to add 1 - 2 pinches of fresh roasted espresso!


Remember ... food is supposed to fun. If you aren't having fun, reach out! I will help you.

STEP 1: Using the straight edge, cut from the top
all the way around.

STEP 2: Twist the avocado in opposite directions
so as to "open" it, revealing the pit (seed).

STEP 3: Hold your tool firmly with the bottom
(white end with the three prongs) facing the pit
then with some gentle force, stick the pit, twist, lift.
It will come out easily. Set the pit aside or discard it.

STEP 4: Using the rounded portion, you can scoop
out the fruit or cube it.

STEP 5: Core and seed the tomato. This helps
prevent your guacamole from being unnecessarily
watery, which leads to a richer, creamier texture.

Chop your onion and jalapeno, zest your lime, and
add all of it to the bowl. 

STEP 6:  Squeeze the lime juice into the guacamole,
sprinkle garlic salt to taste.

STEP 7: Gently mash the guacamole until you reach
your desired consistency. Then ... enjoy!
